Jim Corbett National Park is India’s oldest national park, located in the Nainital district of Uttarakhand at the foothills of the Himalayas. Established in 1936 as Hailey National Park, it was later renamed in honor of the legendary hunter-turned-conservationist Jim Corbett.
Renowned for its rich biodiversity, the park is especially famous for its population of Royal Bengal Tigers under Project Tiger. The landscape is exceptionally diverse, featuring dense sal forests, grasslands, hills, and river belts formed by the Ramganga River.
Corbett is divided into several tourism zones such as Dhikala, Bijrani, Jhirna, Dhela, and Durga Devi, each offering distinct forest experiences and wildlife sightings. Apart from tigers, visitors can spot elephants, leopards, deer species, wild boars, and over 600 species of birds, making it a paradise for wildlife photographers and birdwatchers.
Jeep safaris, canter safaris, nature walks, and forest rest house stays provide immersive ways to explore the park. With its blend of wilderness, scenic beauty, and conservation legacy, Jim Corbett National Park is one of India’s most iconic wildlife destinations.
